DESCRIPTION:The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program helps to fulfill the Christmas wishes and needs of children up to 12 years old throughout Central Texas. Low-income families apply to the program starting in September and provide The Salvation Army with a Christmas wish list for each child that includes new toys or games\, along with clothing and shoe sizes. \nVolunteers are needed to help with the distribution of presents to our Angel Tree clients. DESCRIPTION:Join us Thanksgiving morning as we come together to prepare\, package\, and deliver 11\,000 meals to those in need throughout Austin and the surrounding areas. \n\n\nWe’ll be partially outside\, so dress accordingly.\nPlease tie long hair back\, wear a ball cap\, and choose clothes you don’t mind getting a little turkey or corn juice on. SUMMARY:Tree Planting With TreeFolks
DESCRIPTION:Ready\, Set\, Plant! is a volunteer tree-planting program that plants 10\,000 trees each year along Austin’s creeks and rivers. In partnership with the City of Austin and Keep Austin Beautiful\, we educate volunteers on proper tree-planting techniques and riparian restoration. Some benefits of creekside planting include cooler water for aquatic life\, erosion control\, and filtering pollutants from stormwater. Our events are family-friendly and provide an opportunity for community members to connect with Austin’s public lands. \nNo experience or tools are needed. SUMMARY:Safe In Austin Animal Shelter
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a volunteer experience at Safe in Austin\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sanctuary that rescues\, rehabilitates\, and provides lifelong care for over 200 animals representing more than a dozen species. \nSome of the group volunteer activities include cleaning up after the animals (poo-per scooping)\, brushing the animals\, cleaning kennels and cages\, small or large fencing project\, building\, shrub removal\, plus so much more. \nOf course there is always some time left to make sure everyone gets a chance to visit with the animals as well. \nImportant information: \n\nClosed toe shoes are a must.\nVolunteers must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and plan to dress appropriately. DESCRIPTION:In response to the recent flooding in Kerr County\, TX\, families are in need of urgent support.   \n\nWe are deploying volunteers to Kerrville to assist families recovering from the recent flood. This is a powerful opportunity to serve in-person and support survivors in both practical and compassionate ways. If you want to bring people to serve alongside you\, please make sure they are registered as we are limited on space at this time. \nWhat we will be doing: \n\nCleanup work: assist with debris removal\, muck-out\, and yard clearing\nPersonal items recovery: help families locate and recover lost or scattered personal belongings\nRequirements:\n\n– Must be physically able to perform outdoor labor (cleanup roles\, especially) \n– Bring your own equipment if possible: gloves\, shovels\, rakes\, safety gear\, etc. \n– Willing to serve with flexibility and a heart to help in multiple ways \n\nMeeting Location: Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 220 Thompson Dr\, Kerrville\, TX 78028 \nTime: You are welcome to serve any time between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM—stay as long as you’re able \nCheck-In Instructions: When you arrive\, look for the ADRN sign and check in with our team.
